Maybe. The Mac operating system and Windows are quite different. Although the Mac can read PC data files, applications written for the PC will not run on the Macintosh.
All is not lost, however. Some Macintoshes can have an additional card fitted which includes an IBM-PC processor. This allows the Mac to function as a PC as well as a Mac and run Windows and PC applications, although the range of Mac models for which cards are available is quite limited. Another alternative is software emulation: there are two packages which allow Macintoshes to pretend to be PCs, so that they can run Windows and access PC programs. The emulators are called Soft Windows95 and Virtual PC. You will normally need a recent, high specification Macintosh to run either of these packages.
