Free Web Sites will generally be hosted under the format of www.hants.org.uk/<organisationname>.
Virtual Server sites can be hosted under www.<organisationname>.hants.gov.uk, www.<organisationname>.hants.gov.uk (for departmental sites) or organisations can choose to register a unique domain name. There is normally an additional charge for this facility as it involves registering a name with an external organisation such as Nominet.
The exceptions to this are schools, which can use the same format of domain name for their URL as for their email, as long as Hampshire County Council provides their email. There is no additional charge for this unless the school wishes to purchase a virtual server.
