To configure Netscape Messenger
- Click the Edit Menu and select 'Preferences'.
- When the window opens expand the 'Mail & Newsgroups' to show the topic headings.
- Click 'Identity' and make any changes required to the 'EMail Address' and 'Reply-to Address' entries.
- Click 'Mail Servers' and then change the 'Incoming Mail server' line by clicking the first entry that appears (clicking should highlight this entry) then click the 'Edit' button on the right and when the text is displayed change it to mail.mydomain.com where mydomain.com is your domain name (the part of your e-mail address that appears AFTER the @ sign) e.g. mail.smokeyjoe.ca.
- In the 'User Name' line enter your e-mail address in the form name%mydomain.com (where mydomain.com is replaced by your domain name name) NOTE: the use of the % symbol (rather than the more normal @) is intentional and is used only when configuring the Netscape Messenger client.
- Click OK.
- Go to the line that reads 'Outgoing mail (SMTP) Server' and change it to smtp.mydomain.com where mydomain.com is your domain name (the part of your e-mail address that appears AFTER the @ sign) e.g. smtp.smokyjoe.ca.
- In the 'Outgoing mail server name' line enter your e-mail address in the form name%mydomain.com (where mydomain.com is replaced by your domain name name) NOTE: the use of the % symbol (rather than the more normal @) is intentional and is used only when configuring the Netscape Messenger client.
- Finally Click OK at the bottom of the screen to make all your changes effective.
You can now read e-mail from your new account.
